Two student teams from Central Valley High School advanced to the SkillsUSA state competition for those in media arts after earning the highest ranks in the regional competition a few weeks prior.

Sebastian De La Torre and Giovanni Morales competed in Ontario, Calif., as part of CVHS’s Digital Cinema team, showcasing their technical skills and storytelling abilities among the top students in the state.

Lailah Zuniga and Khushi Kang represented the Video Production team and delivered an outstanding performance, earning gold medals at the state level. With this achievement, they are now officially SkillsUSA State Champions in Video Production competition.

“Their success reflects the dedication, creativity, and hard work of Central Valley High School students, as well as the strength of the school’s Career Technical Education programs in preparing students for real-world media careers,” said media arts teacher Luis Alcazar-Mejia.

He said all four represented the school’s growing media arts career pathway with excellence and professionalism.
