Central Valley High School senior Sabrina Zavalza was honored Friday by the Ceres Rotary Club as its “Student of the Month.”

Zavalza was singled out for demonstrating a commitment and excellence to scholarship, leadership, and citizenship by taking on leadership roles at CVHS and in the community. School officials say she has the motivation and determination to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Sabrina is a member of CVHS National Honors Society (NHS) Club and serves as the club historian.

She has been an active member of the Leadership class at CVHS, participating in several service projects over the years.

Zavalza serves as president of the Central Valley High campus of the Warrior Organization of Women Empowerment (WOWE) Club.

In October Sabrina organized and led a drive to collect over 300 hygiene products for homeless women through the Ceres Partnership.

She has also successfully coordinated other fundraisers to earn money that positively impact the community.

Her community service efforts continue as a volunteer at Doctors Medical Center performing lab runs and supporting patient discharge in her free time.

She also volunteers serving meals at the Modesto Gospel Mission whenever possible.

Her future plans are to major in human biology and to become a pediatric surgeon. Sabrina will be a first-generation college student.
