A 56-year-old woman living in the 500 block of Crows Landing Road was killed during a Thursday morning, Dec. 28 attack by stray dogs, which are still at large.

Killed was Deborah Onsurez, who was found dead prior to 7:50 a.m. in the driveway of a residence. She had sustained severe bite marks on her body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation launched by Sheriff's detectives led them to believe that stray dogs were responsible. A search conducted by deputies and Animal Control officers turned up no trace of the dogs. Detectives also do not have any information on the breed or ages of the dogs.

The Sheriff's Department and Animal Control are asking for residents in the area to be careful. Anyone who sees any stray, vicious or aggressive dogs in the area, are advised to stay away from them and call Stanislaus County Animal Services at 558-7387, the City of Modesto Animal Control at 552-2470 or the Stanislaus County Dispatch at 552-2468.
