Local residents who have dreams of strolling the red carpet at a Hollywood premiere won't have to go to tinsel town to land their big break - they can find it right here in Stanislaus County.
Home Theater Films, with founding partner Corbin Bernsen, will be holding an open call for its upcoming movie project that will be filmed in part in Turlock.
The open call is set for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Nov. 25 and 26 at Pet Extreme at 2840 Countryside Drive in Turlock.
The production company is looking for volunteers who want to learn about the movie-making process on both sides of the camera. An estimated 200 to 300 people will be needed to fill crew openings, extras and a few select speaking roles.
Those auditioning must be 18 years or older. All ethnicities will be needed. Preparation or headshots are not necessary.
"We just want to meet people and talk to them and we will take their picture," said Michael Everett, who as a founder of the Turlock Film Commission helped secure Turlock as a filming site for the movie.
For those interested in volunteering behind the scenes, the production company is looking for people who might have some industry experience or who are willing to put in some hard work.
Filming in Turlock will take place from Dec. 5 to Dec. 18.
The family-friendly romantic comedy is about a woman looking for Mr. Right via a faith-based dating website. Bernsen wrote the screenplay and will be directing.
