Library to close a month

The Florence Gondring Library branch in Ceres will be closed for about a month while interior renovations are being done. Patrons are advised to pick another branch to visit.

A remodeling project at the Ceres Library will result in its closure for over a month. The library is scheduled for painting, installation of new carpet, new shelving and new furniture.

"The library's going to look completely different on the inside," said Ceres Librarian Brian Sontag. "We'll be moving some things around and we'll be getting a new circulation desk."

The branch will be closed tentatively from March 14 to April 25.

"We're choosing that time period so we can get it reopened again before summer starts and summer reading; which is usually a busy time for the library," said Sontag.

During the closure, the book drop-off will be open.

Sontag recommended that patrons begin to prepare for which branch they wish to use while the Ceres library is down. The closest branches are in Keyes, Hughson, Modesto and Turlock.

He said the branch will also be receiving new technology that makes it "pretty much the newest, nicest and most tech savvy branch in the county."
