Retired Gould Medical Group physician Dr. Richard Fisher recently presented Sutter Gould Medical Foundation's Ceres Care Center with a Little Free Library for the lobby area.
Dr. Fisher, whose career spanned generations as a pediatrician in Modesto, built the library himself, and even included a school bell on the top of the school house design.
Dr. Lynette Grandison, a Ceres pediatrician, will manage the books contained in the library.
"The concept is ‘Take a book, Leave a book,'" said Dr. Grandison. "The mission of the Little Free Library is to promote literacy and the love of reading by building free book exchanges worldwide and to build a sense of community as we share skills, creativity and wisdom across generations."
