Detectives with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department are looking into the death of a man whose body was found near Service Road and Jennings Road in the Westport area southwest of Ceres.

The body was discovered on the north side of Service Road at 9:15 a.m. Sunday. The identity of the man has not been determined.

“Investigators aren’t prepared to release the believed cause of death just yet,” said Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Luke Schwartz.

The cause of death was not immediately known so the department’s Crimes Against Persons unit headed to the location to investigate and process the scene for evidence. Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Fisher at 525-7083; or submit anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers at 521-4636.
