Ceres Masonic Lodge and Order of The Eastern Star sponsor an annual essay contest each April to celebrate Public Schools Month,which is celebrated all over California.

Ceres Masons held a presentation awarding the cash prizes for first- and second-place essay contest winners on April 20. The theme of the essay was "How Are Public Schools Preparing me For My Future."

Winners were Fernanda Gradilla, Sinclear Elementary School; Gabriella Blandino, Ceres High School; Carina Partida, Central Valley High School; Marlee Baker, Whitmore Charter School; Alexis Morales, Hidahl Elementary School; and Krishma Malhotra, Cesar Chavez Junior High School.
