With the 2015 Ceres Relay for Life event planned for April 25-26 at Ceres High School, a number of events are being scheduled as fundraisers for the American Cancer Society.

A Relay related fundraiser will be the Thursday evening, Jan. 29 Taco Night Drive Thru. La Perla Tapatia will be catering the Mexican food from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Richland Shopping Center.

The Relay for Life Committee has also scheduled a:

• Black Oak Casino Bus Trip on Saturday, Feb. 14;

• "Hoedown" Cancer dinner/dance on Saturday, March 21;

•A comedy show at the Fat Cat in Modesto set for April 11 with tickets are now on sale through their website.

Committee chair Angela Durossette said the Ceres Relay for Life effort currently has 20 teams signed up and are looking for more. Anyone interested in forming a team or participating in any of the fundraisers may contact Durossette at 581-1480 or email her at adurossette@ceres.k12.ca.us.

Funds raised in Ceres will be used to support the myriads of services and research by the ACS. Besides the medical research, the ACS offers emotional support to cancer patients and families, and volunteers provide rides for patients to chemotherapy treatments.
