Smith, Nicholes, Davis honored at Christian event

Three Ceres citizens were honored last week at the Christian Service Awards Breakfast. Persons of faith from throughout Stanislaus County gathered as an outstanding policeman and firemen were recognized as well as the awarding of the Walter C. "Bud" La Core award for outstanding Community Service and Citizenship.

Acting Ceres Police Chief Brent Smith and Fire Captain Brian Nicholas were honored for living their faith in the course of their employment.

Lonny Davis, owner of Davis Guest Home on Hatch Road in Ceres, was awarded the Walter C. "Bud" La Core award for outstanding community service and Citizenship. Davis founded Hope Haven West, an organization that provides wheelchairs to the disabled poor in the developing world. His production company, Uncle Lonny Presents raises funds for local charities.
