An early morning solo vehicle collision on Sunday claimed the life of a young Ceres mother.

Investigators suspect alcohol played a factor in the deadly crash on Central Avenue.

The deceased was identified by the Ceres Police Department as Dawnalee Juanice Welch, 19, of Ceres.

Around 2:45 a.m. Sunday the Ceres Police Department received a report of an overturned vehicle in the 1300 block of Central Avenue.

The first officers to arrive at the scene found an overturned Honda Civic with a woman unresponsive inside the vehicle, said Ceres Police Lt. Chris Perry.

Welch had been driving south on Central Avenue when for some reason she lost control of her vehicle. A power pole was broken during the collision, bringing down power and television lines, Perry said.

American Medical Response emergency medical technicians responded to the crash and pronounced Welch dead at the scene.

Welch leaves behind a young son among other family members. A Go Fund Me account has been set up at https://www.gofundme.com/ymzt6ew to assist with burial expenses.

The Ceres Police Department is asking anyone who witnessed the collision to contact Traffic Officer Keith Kitcher at 538-5620.
