The commercial building that was being rebuilt from three other prior fires at 1304 Holm Avenue in Ceres has been damaged by yet another suspicious fire.

Ceres Fire Battalion Chief Mike Lillie said that arson is suspected in the Sunday, Dec. 28 fire that broke out at 3:33 a.m.

"The fire burned through the roof on the back side and trash was on fire in the alley," said Chief Lillie.

The building, which had been a convenience store, has been plagued with fires dating back to 2012.

"It's burned three times before," he said. "It was torn down and in the process of being rebuilt."

He said the store had completed exterior and interior walls with no furnishings.

The fire suppression effort drew five engines, one fire truck and 20 firefighters.

Prior fires occurred on Oct 18 2012 and Oct. 23, 2012. The date of the other previous fire was not available.
