The Ceres Chamber of Commerce hosted a Friday ribbon-cutting event for Sunlight Indian Grocery, which opened the same at 1775 Mitchell Road, Suite B (near the Hope Chest).

The store caters to the needs of the Indian population in the area but also carries other items. The business also has a variety of frozen Indian foods as well as spices that normally can’t be found in a traditional American grocery store.

Owners Shelly and Mohen Lal opened the store and purchased the neighboring Sunlight Indian Cuisine restaurant after coming to Ceres from Fremont. Helping her to run the twin businesses are her son Matthew and daughter Megan.

Hours have been tentatively set for 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week. The business can be contacted at (209) 567-2973.
