The Tortoise and the Hare coming to libraries

Stanislaus County libraries are hosting the nationally touring theatre company Act!vated Story Theatre to perform "Tales Afoot" at 13 locations from April 14 to the 29.

"Tales Afoot" is an energized theatrical presentation which features two stories of the following stories: "The Gingerbread Man," "The Tortoise and the Hare," "Stormalong Races the Steamship" and "Racing the Troll."

The shows for kids and their families are set as follows:

• Friday, April 14 at 11 a.m. at the Hughson Library 2412 A Third Street, Hughson;

• Saturday, April 15 at 2 p.m. at the Stanislaus County Library 1500 I St., Modesto;

• Monday, April 17 at 11 a.m. at the Keyes Library, 4420 Maud, Keyes;

• Monday, April 24 at 3:30 p.m. at the Ceres Library, 2250 Magnolia, Ceres.

The programs are free and open to the public. Seating may be limited.

Before each show the professional performers will be hosting an acting workshop for kids ages 6 and up. The workshops are limited to the first 12 participants, who will be cast as "guest stars," dress in a costume and perform a scene on stage. To participate in the free pre-show workshop, kids must arrive 30 minutes before the show is scheduled to begin. No experience necessary. The performance is open to and enjoyed by all ages. Infants to grandparents will find the show entertaining.
