Two Tesla electric cars get their batteries recharged at a series of 10 charging stations at the MarketPlace at El Paseo shopping center in northwest Fresno. Tesla is the most numerous make of zero-emission passenger vehicles registered in the San Joaquin Valley, numbering nearly 40,000 in the eight-county region.
The eight counties in the San Joaquin Valley experience some of the highest levels of air pollution in California, with levels of several pollutants far above the statewide average.
