A 36-year-old male pedestrian was killed early Tuesday on Whitmore Avenue when he was struck twice by cars, one of which fled the scene.

The identity of the male Ceres resident is being withheld until his family is notified.

David Gil, 54, of Ceres, called 911 at 4:38 a.m. to report that he had accidentally struck the man while driving his Nissan Versa westbound on Whitmore Avenue west of Fairview Drive. He had pulled over to make the call when another vehicle described as a royal blue and gray two-toned two-door smart car struck the downed man a second time yet continued westbound on Whitmore Avenue.

Officers found the deceased man in the number one lane of westbound Whitmore Avenue.

Gil reported no injuries.

The Ceres Police traffic unit is conducting a comprehensive investigation but so far drugs and alcohol does not appear to be a factor. Anyone with information about this traffic collision are urged to contact Officer Jerry Kessler at 538-5620.
