Man shot on Garrison Avenue

The tranquility of the 2900 block of Garrison Avenue was shattered early Sunday morning with a shooting that left one man shot in the abdomen and another facing charges of attempted murder.

The shooting took place at 1:45 a.m. after some type of family dispute. The 38-year-old victim was found by police lying wounded on the floor of the garage with a single shot to the abdomen. He was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital where he is expected to recover.

Nearly eight hours later investigators arrested Omar Reyes, 33, of Modesto, as the assailant. Reyes, a friend of the victim's son, was arrested without incident at 9:08 a.m. and booked into Stanislaus County Jail for attempted murder.

Police would not elaborate on what led up to the shooting.
