A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 12 at Turlock Memorial Park for Agnes Marie Souza, 90, of Denair. She Feb. 29, 2012 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.

Allen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Born November 1921 in Tulare County to John and Inez Borba, Agnes attended schools there until moving to Hughson as a teenager. There she met Anthony "Tony" Souza, who lived down the road and they were married in 1946 following his military service during World War II. They were married for 53 years and settled on a dairy in Hughson and farmed there until their retirement in 1975. She moved to Denair 30 years ago. Mrs. Souza part time while her children were young and later worked for Mission Linen for several years. She enjoyed being around her family, cooking and gardening.

She leaves behind two children, Dan Souza of Denair, and Dianna David of Hughson; two brothers, Demas Borba of Turlock, and John Borba of Washington; and her sister, Elsie Fields of Redding; three grandchildren, Bradley Souza, Andrea Hughes and Ryan Hazley; and three great-grandchildren, Mathew, Mya and Scott. She was preceded in death by husband Tony.
