A memorial Mass was held May 8 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hughson for Alejandro Torres, 83, of Turlock. He died May 3, 2009 with family by his side.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Eaton Funeral Home.

Born Feb. 20, 1926 in La Pendencia Zacatecas, Mexico, Alejandro was known as El Borrado. He migrated to Texas then moved to Modesto in 1963, Denair, Ceres, then to Turlock. He was a farm labor contractor for 16 years. Mr. Torres enjoyed visiting family and friends, fishing, and gardening.

He leaves behind his five children, Ascencion Mota of Arizona, Frank Torres and Rosa Garcia of Ceres, Sandra Ruvalcaba of Keyes and Alex Torres Jr. of Turlock; his sister, Antonia of Mexico; his brother, Pedro of Mexico, Juan Escareno of San Antonio, Martin Escareno of Turlock; and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife Maria Guadalupe, and four children.
