A graveside service was held Sept. 28 at Lakewood Memorial Park for Alva Martin Goates, 87, of Hughson. He died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005 at his home.
Lakewood Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Born May 1, 1918, Mr. Goates was a native of Arkansas and lived in Hughson for 50 years. He was a member of Full Gospel Assembly of God and enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing dominoes.
Mr. Goates leaves behind his wife, Arlene Goates of Modesto; two stepchildren, Nancy Renfro of Modesto and Lyla Eutzy of Oceanside; his brother, Willie Goates of Burns, Ore.; his sister, Vernie Wagoner of Roswell, N.M; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
