A Mass was held Friday morning at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hughson for Andrew Cabral Sr., 82, of Ceres. He died Monday, July 25, 2005 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

Burial at Lakewood Memorial Park under the direction of Lakewood Funeral Home.

Born March 23, 1923, Mr. Cabral was a native and lifelong resident of Ceres. He was a heavy-duty equipment operator, driving levelers for the dairy industry. Mr. Cabral also was a dairyman and farmer. With his sons, he participated in horse-pull and -driving competitions. He owned and operated Valley Carriage Co., providing horse-pulled carriage service at weddings, Christmas Tree Lane, and at church and other social events.

He leaves behind four children, Andrew Cabral Jr. of Hughson, John J. Cabral of Turlock, Carolyn Klein of Ceres and Beverly Cabral of Modesto; three brothers, George Cabral of Ceres, Carl Cabral of Pacific Grove and Joe Cabral of Wellington, Nev.; three sisters, Dorothy Vieira of Patterson, Elaine Vieira of Turlock and Betty Vieira of Ballico; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
