Bartolo Olvera Sr.

The rosary and Mass was held Monday morning at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres for Bartolo "Bart" Olvera Sr., 65, of South Modesto. He died Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.

The McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born Oct. 12, 1939, Mr. Olvera was a native of Ripon and lived in South Modesto since 1958. He was a mechanic supervisor for S&W Foods and Tillie Lewis Foods. Mr. Olvera was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, and Food Producers Union Local 748. He enjoyed fishing and barbecue outings.

He leaves behind his wife, Dolores Olvera of Modesto; two children, Teresa Olvera of Modesto and Bart Olvera Jr. of Santa Barbara; his mother, Mary Olvera of Modesto; three brothers, Theodore Olvera of Ripon, and Joseph Olvera and Richard Olvera, both of Modesto; and three sisters, Isabel Victorino of Ceres, Belen Hanrahan of Modesto and Adelita Jimenez of Oceanside. He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Olvera.
