Bertha Phillips

A memorial service will be held at11 a.m. on Monday, August 24 at Lakewood Funeral Home Heritage Chapel, 900 Santa Fe Avenue, Hughson, for Bertha Phillips, 91. She passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 in Modesto.

A reception will follow at Samaritan Village, 7700 Fox Road in Hughson.

Born Dec. 27, 1923 in Ceres where she lived for most of her life, Bertha was employed by Pacific Bell for 37 years. She was a proud member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Telephone Pioneers of America, Ceres and Modesto Senior Citizens.

Bertha loved meeting people and made many close friendships that she continues to keep until this day.
She is survived by four children, Max (Marsha) Phillips, Mike (Sheri) Phillips, Judy (Jerry) Scott and Jeanne (Fred) Angleton; her son-in-law, Ray Looper; and seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Art, daughter Linda Looper, her parents and brothers Charles and Howard Frank.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bertha's name to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto CA 95356.
