Betty Banagis-Lane

The rosary was held Monday at the Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs for Betty Poling Banagis-Lane, 76, of Ceres. She died of natural causes on Friday, April 2, 2004 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

A Mass was Tuesday at St. Jude's Catholic Church. Burial was at St. Stanislaus Cemetery Mausoleum in Modesto.

Born June 22, 1927, Mrs. Banagis-Lane was a native of Bloomington, Ill., and lived in Ceres since 1985. She was a timekeeper at Rockwell Engineering for 32 years. Mrs. Banagis-Lane was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church.

She leaves behind her husband, Gary Lane of Ceres; six children, Ann Mavourneen LeMaire of Menlo Park, William-Stephen G. Lewey and Dianedenise G. Compton, both of Ceres, Gregg-Randall G. Lewey of Granada Hills, Charlesrichard G. Lewey of Reno and Kevinjoseph G. Lewey of Bakersfield; and seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, William Morice Poling, and her parents, Morris and Vivian Poling.
