Hancock Funeral Home in Americus, Ga., was in charge of the funeral service held yesterday for Betty Deaver, 78, of Americus. She died at her home on April 22, 2010.

Interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Born Oct. 16, 1931 in Iberia, Mo., Mrs. Deaver was the youngest of seven daughters born to William Carroll Brumley and Camilla Gertrude Patterson Brumley. An avid gardener, she was a faithful member of the Azalea Garden Club. Both she and her husband, William Carroll Brumley, were graduates of Ceres High School. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren and was such an expert cook that family members saw life as it revolved around the table.

She leaves behind her husband of nearly 61 years, Bob Deaver of Americus; two daughters, Pamela Deaver of Americus and Jayne Laughlin of Bakersfield; three sons, and Bruce Deaver of Newnan, and Alan Deaver and Robert Deaver, both of Americus; two sisters, Marguerite Stone of Eldon, Mo., and Hazel Evans of Olney, Md.; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son Timothy Ray Deaver in 1980.
