A funeral service was held Friday at The Gospel Tabernacle in Ceres for Betty "Louise" Tackett, 78, of Ceres. She died Feb. 8, 2009.

Interment was at Acacia Memorial Park in Modesto under the direction of Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel.

Born Dec 4, 1930 in McAlester, Okla., Louise moved to Modesto in 1944. They joined The Gospel Tabernacle of Riverbank and then on to The Gospel Tabernacle on the corner of Boulder and Rio Grand in South Modesto. On Feb. 25, 1946, she married her lifelong husband, Gene Lawrence Tackett. They traveled many miles together, working for the Lord in various capacities, such as song leader, alter worker, and Sunday School teacher. Gene and Louise also completed many missionary trips to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Mrs. Tackett loved to help others and nurture children to love the Lord as their personal Savior. She enjoyed gardening and raising farm animals with her grandchildren.

She leaves behind her husband, Gene L. Tackett; her children, Sheila Tackett, Ronald Tackett and James Tackett; her sister, Shirley Saxon; five brothers, Harold Gray, Marvin Gray, Vernon Gray, Gerald Gray and Samuel Gray; her grandchildren, Kim Gibson, Keith Gibson, Craig Roberts, Sheilena Louise Roberts, Devon Tackett, Rena Tackett, Lance Tackett, Heidi Tackett, Jared Tackett, Kayla Tackett and Neil Tackett; and seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by parents Alma and Lena Gray, sisters Gladys, Lillian and Pauline.
