A funeral service was held Saturday at Village Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Ceres, for Billie Isee Vartanian, 89, of Modesto. She died May 12, 2008 at her home.
Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.
Born Sept. 28, 1918, Mrs. Vartanian was a native of Ardmore, Okla., born to Nathaniel and Minnie Webb. The family brought Billie to Modesto in 1948. She then met and married Norby Vartanian in 1949. She loved children and operated a day care facility out of her home for 33 years and had second- and third-generation children at her center. Mrs. Vartanian always enjoyed being with family and friends. She loved the Lord and was a member of the Village Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Ceres.
She leaves behind her children, Karen Mannis, Norma Nevitt, Gary Vartanian, Carol Jorgenson and Judy Moreno; two brothers, Jim Webb of Mississippi and Bill Webb of Oklahoma; and 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Norby Vartanian, three brothers, six sisters, and her parents.
