A funeral service was held Monday at Salas Brothers Chapel in Modesto for Bobbie S. Safrit, 75, of Ceres. She died March 9, 2009 at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson after a lengthy illness.

Internment was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born March 10, 1933, Bobbie was a native of Tecumseh, Okla. She moved to Modesto in 1942, and attended Modesto High School. She had been a resident of Ceres since 1963. Mrs. Safrit worked for several years at Paul's Rexall Drug in Ceres. She also was office manager for an overhead door company and worked in retail sales and product demonstration.

She leaves behind her husband of 59 years Glen Safrit of Ceres; three daughters, Glenda Brush, Brenda Safrit and Lisa Ard; four grandchildren, Eric Brush, Natalie Brush, Aaron Ard and Karen Ard; and two great-grandchildren, Dillon Brush and Laney Brush. She was preceded in death by parents Homer and Gertrude Vines and brother Claude.

Remembrances may be sent in Bobbie's name to Memorial Medical Foundation or to Community Hospice of Modesto.
