A Celebration of Life was held Friday at the Waterford Church of the Brethren for Carol Anne Weaver, 85, of Modesto. She died March 27, 2009.

Private burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born July 10, 1923 in Hughson, Carol was the daughter of L. Russell and Clara T. Johnson. She attended Hughson Elementary and graduated from Modesto High. In 1941 she married Raymond C. Weaver. Carol and Ray lived on their Albers Road ranch until Ray's death in 2004, then Carol moved to Casa de Modesto. Carol was a lifelong member of the Waterford Church of the Brethren where she served as a deaconess, quilter with Dorcas Circle, and sanctuary flower arranger. She spent many hours cooking in the kitchen, preparing members for baptism and teaching Sunday School. Carol was also involved with 4H, the Salvation Army, the local Roadrunners Club, and Heifer Project International.

She leaves behind her son, Rodney Lee Weaver of Clovis; her brother, Norman Johnson of Modesto; two foster children, James Sprott of La Pine, Ore., and Cathy Orth of Modesto; and three grandchildren, Dr. Christina Anne Weaver of Fresno, Russell Lee Weaver of Hillsborough, N.C., and Rebecca Rae Weaver of Clovis. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Richard Johnson, and sister Thelma Adrover.

Remembrances may be sent to the Heifer Project International, or Camp Peaceful Pines (via the Modesto Church of the Brethren).
