A memorial service was held Saturday at the Modesto Free Will Baptist Church for Carolyn Cook, 77, of Modesto. The former Ceres resident died May 30, 2008 after a short illness.

Allen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Born in March, 1931, Mrs. Cook was a McGehee, Ark. She lived in the Ceres-Modesto area for 40 years. She graduated from Chowchilla High School in 1949, and was a homemaker. She was a 20-year employee of E.&J. Gallo in Modesto, most of that time as a secretary in the company's legal department. She enjoyed being with her family, and doing God's work. She was a lifelong member of the Free Will Baptist Church, her father Leonard Rial having been a FWB minister. The last several years she attended and was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church of Modesto. Mrs. Cook was a resident of the Ralston Towers in Modesto since 2001.

She leaves behind three sons, Dennis Cook of Empire, Daniel Cook of Foresthill, and Larry Cook of Santee; her sister, Ellis Young of Hughson; two brothers, Eugene Rial of Grass Valley, and Leonard Rial, Jr. of Reno, Nev.; and 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Remembrances may be sent to Medical Ambassadors, Inc, of Modesto.
