A funeral was held Friday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Charles E. Butler, 71, of Ceres. He died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born June 25, 1933, Mr. Butler was a native of Lepanto, Ark., and lived in Ceres for one year. He previously lived in Turlock for seven years and Modesto for 42 years. Mr. Butler was a house painter and enjoyed fishing.

He leaves behind his wife, Norma Butler of Ceres; four children, Debra Gott of Arkansas, Sharon Peterson of Modesto, Jerry Butler of Hughson and Larry Butler of Ceres; and 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
