A funeral service was held on Saturday at the Colonial Chapel of Franklin and Downs in Modesto for Charlie G. Wilson, 79, of Ceres. He died Feb. 12, 2010 in Modesto after a short illness.

Born March 15, 1930 in Amarillo, Texas to Robert and Evie Wilson, Mr. Wilson spent his childhood years in Sulphur Springs, Texas and moved with his family to Ceres in 1943. In 1973 he married the love of his life, Yvonne Thornton. Charlie supported his family working as a machinist for Tri Valley Growers Plant 7 for more that 20 years. In 1993 he retired from Tri Valley and pursued his dream of owning his own business with partner, Ray Mascadri. They founded M&W Engineering in 1994. In his younger years, Charlie was an avid sportsman. Mr. Wilson enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, digging for abalone. snowmobiling, target practicing and playing cards.

He leaves behind his wife, Yvonne Wilson; his two children, Robert C. Wilson and Kristi Elliott; and one grandson, Jonathon Wilson Elliott. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Bobbie McNeal.
