A private family gathering was held to mark the passing of Claire Melgren, 96, of Hughson. She died May 19, 2012.
Franklin & Downs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Born April 11, 1916 in Dinuba to Granville and Cecile Starr Pipkin, Claire spent most of her long life in Modesto. She was a lifelong student, reading and studying well into her 90s. She introduced daughter Dianne at an early age to music and dance while supporting the arts.
She leaves behind daughter Dianne Melgren Gagos; her grandchildren, Mitchell Gagos, Nancey Gagos, Robin Gagos Denga and Kimble Gagos; and great-grandchildren Quinn Gagos, Spencer Gagos, Natara Denga and Tyler Setterlund. She was preceded in death by husband Louis Melgren, her parents and twin sisters Joy Hines and Alberta Davis
