Clara M. Adams, 90, of Ceres, passed away on August 2, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto surrounded by her family.

She was born Clara Mae Hinton on June 17, 1923 to Mary Frances and James Hampton Hinton. She was born in Lenna, Oklahoma and moved to California with many relatives when she was 11 years old. They eventually settled in Ceres. She graduated from Ceres High School in 1941. While at Ceres High School, she was a cheerleader and belonged to many clubs.

She worked in retail for over 30 years, including many years at Ceres Drug Store. Clara was a dedicated contributor to Paralyzed Veterans, Easter Seals, Cancer Society, and American Heart Association. Throughout her years, she enjoyed camping, gardening, cooking, knitting, sewing, crocheting and spending time with her family. Clara was a well-loved person and enjoyed visits from her family and friends.

She was married to her now deceased husband, Loyd G. Adams, for many years and loved him dearly.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Lillian Beebe, Donnie Bradley, Buster Hinton, her infant sister Bonnie and infant grandchild Jeffery Jackson. She has a surviving sister, Wanda Hickey of Ceres.

Her survivors include her daughters, Roberta Genasci, Marlyn Filan, Barbara McGhee of Ceres and Peggy (Frank) Jackson of Modesto; and step-son Joe (Rachel) Adams of Ceres. She leaves behind eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Clara will be greatly missed by her family.

A graveside service is being held on Wednesday, August 7, at 10:30 a.m. at Ceres Memorial Park.
