A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. today at Allen Mortuary in Turlock for Cleo Lorene Smith, 93, of Turlock. She died Jan. 2, 2011 at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born in December 1918 in Oklahoma to Budman and Angie Davis, Cleo was raised in Oklahoma and settled in the Modesto/Ceres area approximately 73 years ago. She married Solomon Smith in 1993. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Turlock Moose Lodge and Church of Christ in Ceres. Cleo loved to collect antique dolls and make dresses for dolls. She also enjoyed spending winters in the Arizona desert and loved to fish.
Cleo leaves behind her husband, Solomon Smith of Turlock; her son, Vernon Baumgardner of Sonora; her brother, Buddy Davis; and six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Ernie Pittser, daughter ValdaGay Tollison and three siblings.
