A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lakewood Funeral Home Chapel for Dale Henry Kjellberg, 77, of Modesto. The former Ceres resident died March 9, 2008 at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto after complications from a stroke.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the chapel.

Born Sept. 10, 1930, Mr. Kjellberg was a native of Minot, N.D., to Oscar and Esther Kjellberg. He was was raised in Minot but spent summers in Blaisdell, N.D. In 1942 the family moved to Modesto. Dale attended Modesto High School. He learned electronics through a correspondence school and operated Dale's TV in Ceres for over 32 years. Mr. Kjellberg was active in Ceres, was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Ceres Fire Department when it was a volunteer organization. Dale moved to Modesto from Ceres in 1997. He enjoyed working with wood, fishing, gardening, and cooking.

He leaves behind his children, Terry Henne and Larry Kjellberg; three brothers, Gene Kjellberg, Gordon Kjellberg and Vern Kjellberg; his sister, Ella Mae Turner; two grandchildren, Larry Kjellberg Jr., and Lori Swier; and two great-grandchildren, Katelyn Kjellberg and Austin Swier. He was preceded in death by sister Eileen Joanne Kjellberg, and grandson Pal Stoddard.
