Private services were held at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, for Daniel "Dan" Jerusalem Taylor, 85, of Ceres. He died July 18, 2012 in Modesto.

Born Nov. 25, 1926 in Modesto to Daniel and Velma Hazel Taylor, Dan was a 1944 graduate of Modesto High School. He served in the Merchant Marines from 1944 to 1946. His career was with the U.S. Postal Service in Modesto spanned for 32 years, first as a clerk, then 16 years as postmaster having been appointed by then Congressman John McFall. Mr. Taylor retired in 1982. He was a member of National Active and Retired Federal Employees Assocation.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Taylor of Ceres; his daughter, Linda Wagner of Valley Springs; his granddaughters, Laura Mitchell Maher of Modesto and Lisa Azevedo of Oregon; and his great-granddaughter, Hailey Rogers of Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Fred, brother Foye Taylor, and sisters Sylvia Ladd and Ruth Foster.
