A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Ceres Chapel of Franklin & Downs for Delores "Deedee" Whittaker, 67, of Ceres. She died of natural causes on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the chapel.

Born May 19, 1938, Mrs. Whittaker was a native of Chicago, Ill., and lived in Ceres for 15 years. She lived in Fremont prior to moving to Modesto. Mrs. Whittaker was a homemaker who enjoyed doing various crafts.

She leaves behind six children, Debra Parker of Turlock, Yvette Hopkins of Ceres, Deborah Whittaker of Dallas, Texas, Daryl Hopkins of Valley Springs, Ivy Helen Whittaker of Sacramento and Walter Whittaker III of Japan; her mother, Ora Phillips of Berkeley; two brothers, George Phillips of Oakland and Booker Phipps of New Jersey; two sisters, Ethel Woods of Berkeley and Johnie Mae Logan of Arkansas; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Euclid Whittaker; her father, John Phillips; and brother John E. Phillips.
