Dennis Eugene Barbour

June 10, 1949 - March 19, 2013

Dennis Barbour of Ceres passed away from medical complications on March 19, 2013 with his loving wife, family and friends by his side. He was a long time Ceres businessman.

Dennis' father, LeRoy Barbour, had both of his sons, Dennis and Stan, in the business in the late 1950's. The business was founded in the late 1930's by Homer Barbour, his grandfather. In the early 2000's, with well over 40 years of work, he retired to pursue his love of antique vehicles. He could be often seen around Ceres in one of his many cherished vehicles. He took extreme pleasure in scaring anyone who would ride with him in his race cars.

He was an avid fisherman and loved to crab and dive. He loved a good auction and a good deal. Following in his father's footsteps, he took an active role in the community and was a member of the following clubs: Lions Club, Modesto Ski Club, Stanislaus Finman, Don Pedro Motel T Ford Club, Ford Model T Club of America, and the Cobra Club. He was the 1995-1996 Ceres "Lion of the Year."
One could count on him and his barbeque team to handle any size barbeque event.

His friends and family would tell you, Dennis was a wonderful and giving person and will be missed.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife Barbara; his brother, Ron and his wife Rose; his step-daughter, Bonnie and her husband Ron; his grandson Nick; step-son Craig and wife Jennifer; and five nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Barbour; his mother, Bonnie Fielder; paternal grandparents, Homer and Helen Barbour; and his maternal grandmother, Hattie Watson.

Arrangements are being handled by Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 29 at Lakewood Memorial Park. The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 30 at the same location. A celebration of life will be held at the Ceres Community Center, following the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be sent to: Westamerica Bank, Account Number #2219027451for the Barbara Barbour Trustee for the Dennis Eugene Barbour Memorial Scholarship Fund.
