Family and friends are invited to a service and luncheon at the home of Michelle and Dave Howell at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 6 to remember Dennis L. Simar, 68, of Modesto. He died May 31, 2008, following a long battle with emphysema.

Pastor Ron Kennedy and Pastor Paul Fliflet will officiate.

There will be a private burial at Denair District Cemetery. Allen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Born March 14, 1940, Mr. Simar was a native of Clarissa, Minn., born to the late Alfred and Carrie Simar. In 1952, the family moved to the Modesto area. After attending Ceres High School, he worked as a farm and dairy laborer. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, raising cows, and growing a garden. Dennis found comfort in prayer and his faith in Jesus Christ.

He leaves behind his children Leland Simar, LaVonne Boler, Michelle Howell and Denise Quinte; his brothers, Dean Simar and Ivan Simar; three sisters, Darlene Asbury, Iris Chandler and Ilene Worthington; his ex-wife Ruth Rhoda; and his grandchildren, Cody Simar, John Simar, Brad Boler, Brian Boler, Kelly Boler, Ellen Howell and Kevin Howell; and his former wife, Ruth Rhoda;

Remembrances may be sent to Community Hospice 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356.
