A graveside service was held Friday at Turlock Memorial Park for Donald Fredrick Taylor, 95, of Turlock. He died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 at Turlock Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Allen Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Born June 11, 1910, Mr. Taylor was a native of Glendale and had lived in Turlock since 1975, and previously lived in Hughson for 47 years. He was a farmer and owned a land-leveling business; also designed and manufactured his own equipment for farming and land leveling. Mr. Taylor worked on the building of Hoover Dam. After farming he was a commercial fisherman for 10 years. He attained his pilot's license at age 16 and flew his own plane until he was 85. Mr. Taylor served with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Air Posse for many years.

He leaves behind two children, Pat Knapp of Turlock and Donald L. Taylor of Emmett, Idaho; his brother, Francis “Mutt” Taylor of Turlock; his sister, Evelyn Weaver of Modesto; and five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Winnifred Taylor.
