A funeral was held Wednesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ceres for Dorothy Louise Acebo Brooke, 74, of Modesto. She died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004 at her home.

Burial was at Turlock Memorial Park under the direction of Eaton Family Funeral & Cremation Service.

Born Dec. 9, 1929, Mrs. Brooke was a native of Houston and lived in Modesto for four years. She was a licensed vocational nurse for 15 years and had worked for the state hospital in Stockton. Mrs. Brooke was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2nd Ward, in Ceres. She enjoyed needlework.

Mrs. Brooke leaves behind 11 children, Richard Brooke of Boone, Iowa, Thomas Brooke of Modesto, Robert Brooke of Antioch, Joseph Brooke of Los Angeles, Randy Brooke of Stockton, Daniel Brooke and David Brooke, both of Gilbert, Ariz., Magie Thurston of Twin Falls, Idaho, Terry Youngberg of Southbury, Conn., Joan Vansteenkiste of Mesa, Ariz., and Kathleen Brooke of Danville; her brother, William Acebo of Pleasanton; her sister, Joann Acebo of Stockton; and 40 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
