Earl S. "Bud" Waring Jr.

A chapel service was held Monday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Earl Sidney "Bud" Waring Jr., 88, of Vallecito. The former Ceres resident died June 19, 2010 at his home after a short battle with lung cancer.

Born July 5, 1921 in Mendocino, Bud was the youngest of four children of Earl S. Waring and Annie E. Waring. After living in Ceres, Modesto and Murphys, Bud settled in Vallecito where he resided for the past 20 years. Bud attended Ceres High School and Modesto Junior College before joining the Army in 1943. He was an Army corporal and worked as an airplane mechanic in the service. While stationed in England during World War II, Bud met the love of his life Margaret Verna Buckley in Wales and they were married in July 14, 1952 in Reno, Nev. Bud and Margaret raised their two children, Derek and Jacqueline in the Ceres/Modesto area. Bud was a well known general building contractor in Stanislaus County. He enjoyed fishing, camping and wood working.

He leaves behind two children, Derek R. Waring and Jacqueline S. Bowers; his sister Florence Wylie; four grandchildren, Krisy Wood, Derek O. Waring, Heather Bowers and Damen Bowers; and six great-grandchildren, Kayla Waring, Maya Waring, Marissa Wood, Justine Wood, Trace Bowers and Ella Waring. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Hazel Marconett and Dorothy Vickers, his wife Margaret Verna Waring (1984).
