A Rosary was held at Lakewood Funeral Home on Monday and a Mass at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Ceres on Tuesday for Edith C. Stephens, 74, of Ceres. She died Aug. 13, 2008 at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.

Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Born Feb. 18, 1934, Mrs. Stephens was a native of Palo Alto and was a resident of Stanislaus County for the past 27 years. She was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church.

She leaves behind her husband, Virgil Stephens of Ceres; her children, Virgil Stephens, Jr. and Frank Stephens, both of Ceres, Steve DeMello of Las Vegas, Nev., Mitch DeMello of Murphy, Ore., Cynthia Hatch of Kansas City, Mo., and Veronica Clovin of Center Point, Ore.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
