A funeral was held Friday at the McHenry Chapel of Franklin & Downs for Edith J. Jackson Brandt, 101, of Ceres. She died Saturday, June 18, 2005 at her home.

Born May 9, 1904, Mrs. Brandt was a native of The Dalles, Ore., and lived in Ceres for three years. She previously lived in Oregon and Washington. Mrs. Brandt graduated from high school in Portland in 1923 and had retired after a career as an elementary school teacher in Washington, including Trout Lake, Cook, Wapato and Stevenson, in 1967. Mrs. Brandt had been a church pianist, and also played for senior citizens. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening.

Mrs. Brandt leaves behind her daughter, Donna Schmitt of Carmichael; three stepchildren, Gerald Brandt of Ceres, Donald Brandt of Forsyth, Mont., and Gail Dailey of Waxhaw, N.C.; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six siblings.
