A chapel service was held on Monday at Lakewood Funeral Home for Edwin Alfred Beach, 97, of Hughson. He died Feb. 13, 2008.

Born May 30, 1910 to parents Alfred and Leila Beach, Ed was a native of Havensville, Kansas. He lived in Hughson for over 50 years. For the last four months he lived at English Oaks Convalescent Home in Modesto. During WWII he served in the Merchant Marines. Ed met and married Margaret Souza in 1946. He was employed as a butter maker at Foremost Creamery (later McKesson) in Hughson for over 30 years, retiring in 1984. Following his retirement he looked after the family almond ranch in Ripon for the next 15 years. Mr. Beach was known as a great storyteller and loved visiting with almost anyone, including his five grandchildren.

He leaves behind his two sons, Ken Beach and and Gene Beach; five grandchildren, Anita, Michael, Kevin, Todd and Katie. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marge, five brothers and a sister.
