A graveside service was held Thursday at Ceres Memorial Park for Ellen Elizabeth Yowell, 93, of Ceres. She died Friday, July 15, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Evins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Born June 14, 1912, Mrs. Yowell was a native of Medford, Ore., and lived in Ceres for 18 years and previously lived in Modesto for 10 years. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Yowell enjoyed crossword puzzles and television game shows, reading and travel, sewing and crocheting, fishing, and collecting porcelain dolls.
She leaves behind five children, Maida Doake of Ceres, Joy E. Yowell of Salida, Irene Ross and Donald Yowell, both of Modesto, and Josephine Brown of Red Bluff; her sister, Lillian Hensley of Canby, Ore.; and 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Yowell; son Carl Yowell; and three brothers and two sisters.
