A memorial service will be held on March 8, in Everett, Wash., for Elton J. Moon, 81, of Everett, Wash. The former Ceres resident died Monday, February 18, 2008.

Born April 28, 1926, Mr. Moon was a native of Woodland, Idaho, born to Dale and Fay Moon. At age 3, the family moved to Ceres, where Elton spent the remainder of his childhood. After graduating from Ceres High School in 1944, he volunteered for the Navy Reserve and served in active duty in the Pacific as a radioman aboard the USS Nehenta Bay Upon his discharge in 1946, Elton moved to Los Angeles, where he attended and completed photographic trade school and worked as a professional photographer. In the mid 1950s, he relocated to San Carlos, where he met his wife, Anna L. Powers. The couple married in May, 1965. During his residency in San Carlos, "Al" worked for many years as a cost accountant with Piombo Construction Co. A company relocation in 1984 took Elton and Ann to Santa Rosa, where they resided for 18 years. They relocated to Everett, in 2002 to be nearer to their grandchildren.

He leaves behind his wife, Ann Moon of Everett, Wash.; two daughters, Jennifer Moon of Bellingham, Wash., and Alison Moon of San Mateo; and two grandchildren, Brendan Gardner and Erin Gardner, both of Bellingham, Wash. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Fay Moon, and by younger brother, Arden "Art" Moon.
