Funeral arrangements will be made in Las Vegas for Emil Pfeifer, 80, of Las Vegas. He died Oct. 22, 2011.

Born April 19, 1931 in Modesto, Emil graduated from Modesto High School and was in the California National Guard. He was a member of the Ceres Police Reserve. Mr. Pfeifer owned Midnight Magic Arabians horse ranch and owned Central Valley Lathing until he retired and moved to Florida for 10 years. Emil had a private pilot's license and his own plane and enjoyed flying and traveling. He resided in Las Vegas, Nev., the last five years.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Leslie Pfeifer of Las Vegas; his daughter, Marjie Meyerson; his brother, Fred Pfeifer of Modesto; his sister, Helen Bushinski, of Spokane, Wash.; and two grandsons, Tony Black and Alex Black, of Marina Del Rey.
