A Mass was held Friday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church for Emily F. Dias, 93, of Ceres. She died Sept. 17, 2007.

Burial was St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Modesto. The Colonial Chapel-Franklin & Downs was in charge of arrangements.

Born on April 22, 1914, in Hayward, Emily was the youngest of three children of Antonio and Angelica Faria. On Thanksgiving day, Nov. 26, 1936, she married Joseph S. Dias of the Ceres/Hughson area, where the two of them farmed peaches and almonds for 53 years. Mrs. Dias enjoyed her garden of roses and flowers, but also excelled as a seamstress for family members.

Mrs. Dias was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, S.E.S. Council #25, MPPA (past president, 1960), S.P.R.S.I. #96, U.P.P.E.C. #56, Brotherhood of St. Anthony, Tracy; Cabrillo Club of Modesto, Ceres Senior Citizens Club, and Morada Parlor #199 NDGW.

She leaves behind three children, Gloria Lewis of Denair, Marjorie Howard of Modesto, and Raymond Dias of Morgan Hill; her grandchildren, Joanne Perry, Deanna Perkinton, Nicole Smith, and Mark Howard; her great-grandchildren, Kyle Perry, Stefan Perry and Talina Perry, Rachel Howard, Jennifer Howard, and Makenan Smith; also two great-great-grandchildren: Monique Perry and Andrew Perry. She was preceded by her husband, Joe Dias in 1990, grandson Richard Lewis in 1990, and two brothers.

Remembrances may be sent in her name to a favorite charity.
